Qui sont les évaluateurs d’expérimentation sociale ?

Abstract

This article deals with the category of field experiments’ evaluators in France and underlines the issues that emerged about their various activities. To this end, it mobilizes both the sociology of professions and the sociology of expertise. We focus on a small group of economists which became evaluators and we highlight their differentiation strategies. They aim at a double distinction: from the others evaluators and from the others economists. The article also underlines the benefits from mobilizing the sociological category of expertise in considering the evaluators: it stresses the multiple positions these actors hold
