Mobile Applications in Library Practice: International Experience and Domestic Realities

Abstract

The article analyzes the types of library mobile applications, as well as their specificity and features as a tool for meeting the users informational needs. Opportunities to expand library services with their help, as well as a number of advantages in the provision of such services for the library and for the user are identified. The article gives an analysis of foreign experience of creation and functioning of library mobile applications and their relevance to users. Also attention is given to the approaches to the adaptation of this type of library services in the domestic realities. It proved the value of mobile applications as new forms of access to libraries digital resources and collections, which led to popularization of national information resources, cultural heritage, attracting users to actively participate in national and cultural discourse
