The article concerns the research perspectives of linguistic speech genres theory understood as
a linguistics domain closely related to the text linguistics. The author points three main areas in
which speech genres theory could gain the whole shape. The areas are: research on speech genres
in diachronic or panchronic perspective; comparative and contrastive research in chosen genre
family consisting of forms similar in formal, stylistic or pragmatic aspect; intercultural research.
This kind of research would enriche for sure our knowledge of discourse as an important element
of social and cultural communication
