Towards the agile enterprise: A method to come from a DEMO model to a Normalized System, applied to Government Subsidy Schemes

Abstract

Because of the changing needs of enterprises, raised by the changing market among other reasons, the needs of its supporting information system(s) will also change. Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations (DEMO), from Delft University of Technology, has already proven to be an effective tool in designing and realizing agile organizations. The next step is to have these organizations supported by agile Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems. The Normalized System (NS) approach, from the University of Antwerp, seems to be key for developing agile ICT systems. In this masters thesis, it is found how DEMO and NS could be combined optimally in order to cover the whole development process of agile enterprises, starting from a DEMO model and arriving at an implemented organization, with its supporting ICT systems. To make the project as concrete as possible, Government subsidy schemes from Capgemini is used as a practical case for clarification and demonstration.
