Abstract
Preborne šume su vrsta šume u kojoj se na samoj jedinici površine nalaze stabla različitih debljina i različitih visina. Preborne šume u Hrvatskoj nose obilježje isključivo obične jele (Abies alba Mill.), jer su preborna struktura i preborno gospodarenje vezani s ekološkim zahtjevima i biološkim osobinama te vrste drveća. Šume prirodne strukture u Hrvatskoj nastale su prirodnim pomlađivanjem i to preborne šume prebornim sječama, a regularne šume oplodnim sječama.Selection forests are type of forest in which on the unit of surface area are located trees of different thickness and different heights. Selection forests in Croatia bear the characteristics exclusively of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.), because selection structure and selection management are associated with environmental requirements and biological properties of these trees. Forests of natural structure in Croatia were formed by natural regeneration and that is by selection forests with selection cut and regular forests by regenerative felling
