Symbiosis of double skin facade and indoor climate installation

Abstract

The demands of a better indoor air quality at lower energy consumption and lower investments cost push scientist and designers towards new technical solutions in the building industry. This thesis defines potential practical benefits of applying the double skin fae (DSF) in office buildings. The main question is to what extent the double skin fae can contribute to the improvement of the indoor comfort, energy consumption reduction and smaller installations in the building. This question contains a need of analysis of a very wide range of applications, weather conditions, construction and control possibilities. Although the following thesis attempts to give very universal picture of the double skin fae, it is mainly focused on the weather conditions as in the Netherlands, and on basic functions and construction options.Mechanical Maritime and Materials Engineerin
