Abstract
– 1980. Trenutno stanje analizirano je pomoću dostupne kartografije, dok je stvarno stanje terasa i pripadajućih elemenata utvrđeno terenskim istraživanjem.Oprtalj is one of many Istrian settlements situated on hills and surrounded by agricultural terraces. Over the past fifty years a large number of residents left Oprtalj leaving the settlement without manpower. Also, those residents who remained found employment in other activities outside agriculture. Though suitable for cultivation terraces have remained neglected.
In this paper the terraced landscape of Oprtalj is analyzed with the purpose of defining the characteristic elements and typology of it. Also, it explores the genesis of terrace development as well as the current state of the terraces. The genesis of terrace development was described by analyzing the old Austrian cadastre and the related papers, the digital orthophoto map from 1968 and old picture and postcards of Oprtalj from the period 1899-1980. The present state was analyzed using the available cartography while the actual condition of the terraces and its elements was determineted by a field research
