Aminoglycoside resistance was investigated in six clinical isolates of Stenotrophomonas (Xanthomonas) maltophilia by studying the uptake kinetics and by using a radiochemical method to detect aminoglycoside modifying enzymes. Furthermore, the lipopolysaccharides (LPS) were extracted and characterized by SDS-PAGE and chemical analysis.
