Influence of different type of artificial lighting on germination and germination energy of cabbage and kale

Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi utjecaj LED i FLUO osvjetljenja na klijavost i energiju klijanja, te na masu i visinu klijanaca kupusa i kelja. U pokusu je korišteno sjeme kupusa sorta Varaždinsko 2 i kelja sorta Vertus 2. Klijanje i energija klijanja ispitani su pomoću standardnog laboratorijskog postupka u laboratoriju za Povrćarstvo, cvjećarstvo, ljekovito i začinsko bilje na Poljoprivrednom fakultetu u Osijeku. Masa i visina klijanaca zabilježeni su na kraju testiranja. Statistička analiza podataka pokazala je da osvjetljenje znatno utječe na klijavost, energiju klijanja te visinu klijanaca. Kod kupusa i kod kelja klijanci su bili značajno viši pod FLUO osvjetljenjem, ali je veći postotak energije klijanja i klijavosti kod obje kulture zabilježen pod LED osvjetljenjem.The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the LED and FLUO lighting on the germination and germination energy as well as on weight and height of the seedlings of cabbage and kale. In this experiment, seeds of cabbage cultivar Varaždinsko 2 and kale cultivar Verthus 2 was used. The germination and germination energy was tested using standard laboratory procedure in a Laboratory for Vegetables, Flowers, Medicinal and Spice Herbs at the Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek. The weight and height of seedlings was measured at the end of the testing period. Statistical analysis of data showed that lighting significantly effect on germination, germination energy and height of seedlings in both cabbage and kale. Seedlings of both species were significantly higher under the FLUO lamps, whereas significantly higher percentage of germination and germination energy was recorded under the LED lamps
