Monitoring of stored maize, oat and barley on family farm Mate Lešić in 2017

Abstract

Throughout grain stock storing, a different physiological processes occur under which a serious losses of stored bulk could ensue. In this thesis a condition of maize, barley and oat, stored at attic place on family farm Mate Lešić has been monitored during February, March and April 2017 year. After sampling, a grain temperature, moisture and hectoliter weight has been measured as long with pest presence. A huge number of pests was found in barley, while in maize and oat the condition was satisfactory. According to the results, it could be concluded that previously conducted disinsection measurement was successful concerning that afterwards were only dead insects found. However, for the entrance of the new stock in the same stored space, it is necessary to clean all left particles of the grain and to use disinsection of the empty stored house, in order to avoid reinfestation of the individuals developed from immature stages of pests. Disabling of favorable conditions for development and propagation of insects is crucial, so that the bigger losses could avoid. In the conclusion, it is of the outmost importance to carry out the regular monitoring of moisture and temperature grain during all time of storing
