Freight Forwarding Operations in Organizing Intermodal Transport

Abstract

Intermodalni transport zahtjeva potpunu posvećenost operatera koji vrši organizaciju intermodalnog transporta od pošiljatelja do primatelja. Intermodalni transport omogućuje isporuku rube od vrata do vrata, te niže cijene prijevoza kombiniranjem različitih modova prijevoza. U radu je prikazana djelatnost špedicije, zatim prednosti i nedostaci intermodalnog prijevoza, te posebno uloga špeditera u organizaciji intermodalnog prijevoza, uz ilustraciju na hipotetskome primjeru dopreme robe kontejnerom.Intermodal transport requires the full commitment of the operator who carries out the organization of intermodal transport from the consignor to the consignee. Intermodal transport enables door-to-door delivery, and lower transport costs by combining different modes of transport. The paper presents the activity of forwarding, the advantages and disadvantages of intermodal transportation, and in particular the role of freight forwarder in the organization of intermodal transportation, illustrating the hypothetical example of delivering goods to the container
