The development of diabase exploitation in the deposit of “Žervanjska” and an assessment of it’s effect on environment and nature : master’s thesis

Abstract

Abstract: The deposit of "Žervanjska" is one of the few deposits of diabase in the Republic of Croatia, a worthy mineral raw material that is used in industrial processing. Diabase from the "Žervanjska" deposit meets the strict quality requirements for mineral raw material that is used to make stone wool, especially in respect to it's chemical structure. It is located within Papuk nature park where it is not allowed to open new or expand existing exploitation fields. New balance reserves were confirmed within the allowed exploitation field "Žervanjska" so it is necessary to expand the outline of exploitation. In order to obtain a location permit it is necessary to make an environmental impact study, as well as the impact on the ecological network. This work elaborates the technology used to exploit diabase, it's nature on the environment and nature, measures to protect the environment and nature, and the procedure of the environmental and ecological network impact study in accordance with applicable regulation
