Implementation of Ecological Production as the Framework of Croatian Agriculture Development

Abstract

Ekološka se poljoprivreda nameće kao alternativa konvencionalnoj poljoprivredi koja je postala sve teže spojiva s vrijednosnim sustavom pojma održivog razvoja. Ekološka poljoprivreda kao takva predstavlja novi, racionalniji sustav gospodarenja poljoprivrednim površinama diljem svijeta, pa tako i u Hrvatskoj. Ovaj diplomski rad ima zadatak prikazati povijesni razvoj, način funkcioniranja, implementaciju ekološke poljoprivrede te trenutno stanje ekološke poljoprivrede u Republici Hrvatskoj. Ekološka poljoprivreda u Hrvatskoj razvijala se u nekoliko faza i uočeno je značajno povećanje poljoprivrednih površina pod ekološkom proizvodnjom te su 2016. godine ekološke površine zauzimale 6,07% ukupnih poljoprivrednih površina u Hrvatskoj. Ipak, hrvatska ekološka poljoprivreda značajno zaostaje za razvijenim zapadnoeuropskim i drugim razvijenim zemljama svijeta, te nije dostigla ciljanih 8% površina pod ekološkom proizvodnjom što je trebalo biti ostvareno do 2016. godine.Ecological agriculture is imposed as an alternative to conventional agriculture, which has become increasingly difficult to correlate with the value system of the concept of sustainable development. Ecological agriculture represents a new, more rational agriculture management system around the world, including in Croatia. This graduate thesis presents the historical development, the way of functioning, the implementation of ecological agriculture and the current status of ecological agriculture int he Republic of Croatia. Ecological agriculture in Croatia has developed in several phases, and significant increase of agricultural land under ecological production has been observed, and in 2016 ecological areas accounted for 6,07% of total agricultural land in Croatia. Still, ecological agriculture in Croatia significantly lags behind well developed Western European and other developed countries, and has not reached the targeted 8% of ecological production areas, which should have been achieved by 2016
