Stand regeneration characteristics of dinar ic beech - silver fir forests in Gorski kotar region

Abstract

Forest Inventory in the Gorski kotar region was total set, measured and estimated 388 research surfaces. Measurement and assessment of the condition and structure of rejuvenation was carried out by measuring thin trees (thinner than 10 cm) apart in three diameter classes. For each diameter class was determined by types of trees and number of trees also estimated mean height of trees. Furthermore, share of rejuvenated surface was assessed to 10 percentage grade and percentage representation of youth trees as well as its origin and qualitative status by tree species. Continuous rejuvenation is prerequisite of selection management. Therefore, in the context of climate change, and the current structure of beech and fir stands of information on the state of rejuvenation have great importance. Review and analysis of the success of renewal, structure of youth trees according to their origin, tree species as well as the dynamics of the inflow of trees in a stand with relationship to the ownership structure, ecological-economical types and purpose forests are the results of the work
