Abstract

The article discusses the initiatives of the Academic Libraries Section, a professional organization that supports research, self-education and practical activities of the librarians in the Silesian voivodeship. It presents the different forms of skills´ acquisition developed by the organization- conferences, seminars and workshops, study travels, and publishing of the librarian journal. The author emphasizes the integrative nature of the undertaken actions. The paper is complemented with the bibliography
