Koncept društveno odgovornog poslovanja danas je sve popularniji zahvaljujući globalizaciji te je postao ustaljena praksa poduzeća u razvijenim državama svijeta, a razlog tome je ponajprije korist koju dobivaju svi uključeni u takav način poslovanja.
Osim ispunjavanja zakonskih obaveza, DOP znači i investiranje u ljudski kapital, okoliš i odnose sa internom i eksternom okolinom.
Učinkovitost primjene društvene odgovornosti očituje se u dobroj i etički prihvatljivoj komunikaciji sa svim interesno-utjecajnim skupinama čime se postiže bolje okruženje, doprinosi zajednici te povećava uspješnost poslovanja. U Hrvatskoj taj koncept još uvijek nije dovoljno razvijen no potencijala za daljnji napredak ima. Kao dobar primjer iz prakse može se navesti Atlantic Grupa čija se društvena odgovornost očituje kroz dobre odnose sa zaposlenima i investitorima te doprinos zajednici i okolišu.Today, the concept of corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly popular thanks to globalization and has become a common practice at firms in developed countries of the world, and the reason is primarily benefit by getting everyone involved in such a way of doing business. In addition to meeting legal requirements, DOP means and investing in human capital, environment and relations with internal and external environment.
Effectiveness of social responsibility is reflected in the good and ethically acceptable communication with all interest-influential groups resulting in a better environment, contributing to the community and increase business efficiency. In Croatia, the concept is still not sufficiently developed but the potential for further progress exists. As a good example of the practice can be given Atlantic Group whose social responsibility manifested through good relations with employees and investors and contribute to the community and the environment
