In the chapter the schizophrenia was analysed according to international statistical classifcations
of disorders (ICD‑10
and DSM‑IV‑TR).
There were introduced a biological (genetical
and connected with damages in nervous system), cognitive (connected with attention, memory,
thought, and language abnormalities), mental (fear, autism, delusional vision of the world) and
phenomenological aspects of functioning of person with schizophrenic disorders. In a synthetical
manner a description of psychodynamic, humanistic and systems psychology theories of initiation
and maintainance of schizophrenic symptoms. Selected aspects of discussed disorder were
illustrated by examples from two movies: Beautiful mind (directed by Ron Howard) and Spider
(directed by David Cronenberg)
