Possibilities for the Development of the Intermodal Transport in the Republic of Croatia

Abstract

Razvoj intermodalnog prometa u Republici Hrvatskoj važan je dio općenitog razvoja transportnog tržišta te samog gospodarstva kroz isti s obzirom na mogućnosti koje intermodalni transport pruža. Krajnji cilj intermodalnog transporta jest odmicanje teretnog transporta s cestovnog prijevoza u smislu smanjenja količine korištenja tog oblika prijevoza kako bi se teret prevozio od točke ishodišta do krajnje točke odredišta. Radi toga se kroz razvoj intermodalnog transporta pokušava povećati konkurentnost ostalih modova prijevoza te pružanja korisnicima siguran, kvalitetan i povoljan način transporta. Zahtjevi su sve većeg globaliziranog tržišta da se kroz više grana prometa pokušava ostvariti povoljan i učinkovit transport traženih dobara. Radi toga prikazani su različiti učinci, postojeće stanje i sama mogućnost razvoja intermodalnog transporta u Republici Hrvatskoj u odnosu na modele upravljanja transportom koji se primjenjuju u drugim zemljama.The development of intermodal transport in the Republic of Croatia is a important part of the general development of the transport market and the economy through it given the possibilities that the intermodal transport has to offer. The ultimate goal of intermodal trasport is to move freight transport away from road transport in a sense to lower the amount of usage of that form of transport to get the goods from the point of origin to the final destination point. Therefore, through the development of intermodal transport it is trying to increase the competitiveness of other modes of transport and providing the users with a secure, quality and affordable mode of transport. The requirements of an increasing globalized market is use the multiple branches of transport to achieve a positive and efficient transport of goods required. Therefore the paper studies different effects, the current situation and the mere possibility of the development of intermodal transport in the Republic of Croatia in relation to traffic management models applied in other countries
