Abstract

In this thesis, the skiving process is fundamentally analyzed using finite element methods regarding the kinematic conditions and the mechanisms of the formation of the process-specific multi-flank chips. For this purpose, 3D FEM simulation models of the kinematics and the chip formation with the software ABAQUS/Explicit were developed. Thereby detailed insights in the process were gained, which are not achievable or only under great efforts with conventional methods
