Abstract
Prirodu je nemoguće opisati pomoću standardnih geometrijskih likova kao što su kvadrati, krugovi i sl. Za opisivanje složenih struktura koje pronalazimo u prirodi (planine, oblaci, korijenje biljaka) koristimo fraktale i fraktalnu geometriju. Ovaj dio matematike, koji se počeo naglo razvijati tek krajem 20. stoljeća, našao je svoju primjenu u znanosti, tehnologiji, medicini pa čak i astronomiji, premda se očekuje još veći razvoj. U ovom radu je obrađen pojam fraktala kao i neki od najpoznatijih fraktala u matematici, generirani u programskom paketu Wolfram Mathematica 7.0.The nature is impossible to describe using standard geometric shapes such as squares, circles, etc. Therefore, for describing complex structures found in nature (mountains, clouds, plant root systems) we use fractals and fractal geometry. This part of mathematics that began to develop rapidly at the end of 20th century, found its application in science, technology, medicine, astronomy and even greater development is expected. In this paper the concept of fractals is introduced, and some of the famous natural and mathematical fractals are described and generated in the software package Wolfram Mathematica 7.0
