Abstract
© 2015, Mediterranean Center of Social and Educational Research. All rights reserved. Authors investigate the historical aspect of the minimum wage setting in Russia. It is noted that in the USSR period the minimum wage was not aimed at the labour market regulation, but on the structuring of the salary system in the Soviet economy. At the present time the minimum wage in Russia and its regions not solve its main objective - to provide a simple reproduction of the labour force of low-skilled workers. Different ways of the minimum wage setting in the regions of Russia have led to significant territorial differentiation. The authors suggest some measures to improve the minimum wage setting in Russia
