Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present and to describe the phenomenon of iconicity in poetry. The author discusses semanticity of some sounds and their assemblies in a poetic text. Each phone, emitted in a given context, takes on a new meaning. Further, the article compares onomatopoeia and iconicity, both in ordinary discourse and in poetry. Thus it is demonstrated that our code is highly iconic, and most spoken sounds and words quickly trigger our imagination
