Pengaruh Dimensi Scrap Aluminium(Al) dengan Campuran Timah Hitam (Pb) Sebesar 400 Gram terhadap Kekerasan Dari Hasil Pengecoran dengan Menggunakan Cetakan Permanen

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the dimensions of Aluminum scrap with a mixture of Black Tin (Pb) of 400 grams on the hardness of casting results using a permanent mold. The initial process is to prepare materials such as Aluminum (Al) and lead, then the material is cut to a size of 5 cm x 5 cm x 1 cm, 7,5 cm x 7,5 cm x 1 cm and 10 cm x 10 cm x 1cm. After the material is ready, then the next process is to weigh the Aluminum material every dimension weighing 2 kg and adding Black Tin by 400 grams of the weight of Aluminum. Then proceed with preheating the permanent mold and crucible furnace before the ingredients are put into the furnace. Aluminum and Black Tin are inserted into the furnace for the smelting process, after which aluminum and lead melt are then poured into a permanent mold. The next process is to wait for the castings to harden and then proceed to dismantle the results of the castings. In testing Brinell hardness the product of castings with tin mixture of 400 grams for material size 5 cm x 5 cm x 1 cm is 98,559 BHN, material with a size of 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 1 cm is 88,832 BHN and for material size 10 cm x 10 cm x 1 cm is 83.82 BHN. If seen from the table of chemical composition of the largest element content in this study is Aluminum silicon alloy (Al-Si) microstructure in the cast material size 10 cm x 10 cm x 1 cm has more and larger grain shapes, compared to castings products with material size 5 cm x 5 cm x 1 cm and 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 1 cm.
