Rancangan Intervensi Psikologis untuk Mengurangi Beban Perawatan pada Para Perawat Lansia

Abstract

The design of psychological interventions to reduce the burden of care on elderly nurses is a method that can change the behavior, thoughts, and feelings of a person with conditions that include physical, psychological, social and financial pressure in caring for the elderly. This study aims to (1) identify and understand the factors that contribute to caregiver burden on elderly nurses, (2) to know and design appropriate forms of intervention to reduce the burden of care on elderly nurses. Data collection in this study using three methods namely, Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) questionnaire measurements, interviews and observation. The research informant was determined by purposive sampling method with 10 respondents with the characteristics have treated the patient with cronical sickness, have been care for more than 6 month, and stay with the patient. The results showed that (1) the factors that contribute to the emergence of maintenance burden on elderly nurses. First, the determinants of the burden of care include sex, age, education, chronic disease of the patient, length of time caring for the patient, caregiver relationship status, functional dependency level, and history of caregiver sickness. Second, reducing factors / reducing the burden are the spiritual and cultural values of Java. The existence of culture "ngopeni" in the Java community so in fact, the subject actually feels the burden of care, but the presence of Javanese culture so that the subject neutralizes the feeling of being burdened by saying that caring for the elderly is not felt to burden "Nek dinggo rekoso nggih rekoso, dinggo mboten nggih mboten" means if it is hard then it will feel hard, if it is not hard will also feel not hard. “sak tekane " means do not consider treating is hard, should be passed and complete. (2) The appropriate form of intervention to reduce the burden of care for elderly nurses is the training of meaningfulness of life
