So, I was at 626 Thurston Avenue, and we were having an open discussion. So we talked about the U.S. elections, and how ridiculous it is. So, one point I mentioned was that whenever the politicians are talking about minorities, they're mainly talking about the African Americans and Latinos and Hispanics. There's not really that much about Asian Americans or Asians, which is kinda disservingfor me because  they make up about 5% of the US population. Well, whenever like one voice gets vocal, like the other ones get quieter. In this case, it’s like Asian Americans are being shunned ‘cause there's not like a whole lot of police brutality with Asian Americans. Like the only form of discrimination I hear on TV is that they're shunned from attending these elite universities and like, affirmative action actually works against them. Well, it's kind of disserving to me, because like as an Asian American, like, it's hard to see that our race is perceived with these racial stereotypes. Like, oh, we're the bottom minority, we're the nerds. Like we just play the violin and the piano. No! Like we have all different personalities and interests. Like we wanna be perceived as such. Like not only in the media and the news. Like we wanna be perceived like that in real life. And sometimes whenever I talk about my identity of being Asian American, I feel like people are ignoring me just because they're not like that, they're not open to listen. So it's been kind of a challenge to talk about the struggles of being Asian American.
