Es té constància de traduccions del català a l'hongarès des dels últims anys del segle XIX, lligades quasi exclusivament al nom d'Albin K oro¨si,l′activitatcatalanoˋfiladelquals′estroncaambl′inicidelaPrimeraGuerraMundial.Desd′aquellmomentfinsaladeˋcadade1970lestraduccionsqueveuenlallumsoˊnanecdoˋtiquesideslligadesentreelles,incapacesdeproduirressoˋenelmoˊndelacrıˊtica.Elsuˊltimstresdecennishaaugmentatconsiderablementelnombred′obresliteraˋriescatalanestraduı¨desal′hongareˋs,siguinnovel⋅les,contes,poemesoobresteatrals,augmentexplicablepelfetquelallenguacomenc\caaensenyar−sealaUniversitatdeBudapest,itambeˊperlapolıˊticadesubvencionspracticadadesdeldominilingu¨ıˊstic.ThereisknowledgeofsomeHungarianlanguagetranslationfromCatalaninthelastdecadeofthe19thcentury.MosttranslationsarerelatedtoAlbinKo rösi, whose Catalan interests are stopped by WWI. From that time up to 1970 only some sporadic, more than anything anecdotic, translations are performed with no relationship between themselves hence void of any critical appraisal. In the last three decades there has been a considerable increase in the number of works translated from Catalan into Hungarian: novels, short stories, poetry and even plays. The reason for this sudden interest for Catalan literature may be the fact that Catalan language is now taught at Budapest University due to the language subsidy policy of the Catalan government
