L'article és una revisió crítica de la biografia i de la producció del pintor Miquel Bestard (Palma de Mallorca, 1592-1633), també conegut com el Mallorquí, un artista famós durant el segle XVII però oblidat per la historiografia artística moderna. L'estudi aporta nova informació, exhumada en diversos arxius de Mallorca i de la Península, i presenta nombroses obres desconegudes, tant de tema religiós com d'iconografia profana.The article offers a critical review about the biography and production of the Mallorcan painter Miquel Bestard (Palma, 1592-1633), a famous artist of the 17th Century but neglected afterwards. New information found in several archives is included in this paper, as well as many previously unknown works --both religious and secular paintings
