Starting with the observation of a broad range of XIV and XV century iconographic representations, from the ancient Crown of Aragon, this article analyses various aspects related to the medieval fiddle. Among the issues discussed are the diverse elements which determined the musical possibilities of the instrument, such as the number and arrangement of the strings, and the structure and characteristics of the bridge. The study concludes with a discussion of the tuning of the fiddle, based on various contemporary European sources, amongst which are the contributions of J. De Moravia, J. Vaillant and J. Tinctoris.Partiendo de la observación de un amplio repertorio de representaciones iconográficas de los siglos XIV y xv procedentes de la antigua Corona de Aragón, el presente articulo anaiiza diversos aspectos relativos a la fídula medieval. Entre los aspectos tratados destacan distintos elementos determinantes de las posibilidades musicales de este instrumento, como el número y disposición de las cuerdas, y la estructura y característics del puente. El estudio se completa con una reflexión entorno a la atinación de la fídula, basada en distintas fc entes europeas contemporáneas entre las que destacan 10s tratados de J. de Moravia, J. Vaillant y J. Tinctoris
