The search for and identification of apps for support of learning, teaching and research is a common barrier for new users of smart devices. Initial forays into the respective app stores can reap confusing and unrewarding results. In new users this experience can contribute to a level of frustration and also the perception that the device is limited when compared to a desktop computer. Finding time-efficient strategies for app discovery, in tandem with consideration of the place of apps in your teaching arsenal, is key to the successful use of a smart device. This chapter outlines pragmatic strategies for integrating apps into your existing workflow and considers teaching scenarios where an app or apps can be used to solve a specific problem or to fill a new niche
