Escarabajos longicornios (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae y Disteniidae) del Parque Nacional Darién, Panamá

Abstract

Darién National Park (PND), a natural connection between South and Central America, is the largest national park not only in Panama but in all of Central America. Due to its strategic geographical situation, it is a place for the interchange of the North and South American fauna, where endemic invertebrates and vertebrates are very abundant. Through the use of malaise traps and light traps placed at different points within the PND, 183 individuals of 87 species of longicorn beetles in the families Cerambycidae and Disteniidae were collected. Also, four species of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) are reported for the first time for Panama: Lepturges (Lepturges) proximus Melzer, 1934, Cobelura wappesi Corbett, 2004, Adesmus pirauna Martins and Galileo, 1999, and Helvina lanuginosa (Bates, 1865). Cylicasta nysa Dillon and Dillon, 1946 previously recorded in Panama by Hovore (1989) but it is not cited in Monné’s Catalogue of the Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) of the Neotropical Region, being considered a forgotten species of the country. The known prior distributions for each species, collecting methods, and additional information on the collection sites of each specimen are provided
