One of tourists’ recommendations in making trip is Hotel. Hotel was known in 19
th
century established near the port, so it existed only in big cities such as Jakarta, Semarang, and
Surabaya. At that time, hotel was used to cater the guests coming by ship only, the Dutch or
other European coming through Port. It was only in the 20
th
century that the hotels was
established in rural areas, such as Malang, Solo, Bandung, and Yogyakarta.
An age was arrived before 1980s when the hotels, particularly those in Solo, were still
used as inn only, and even the indigenous Solonese was still reluctant to come to the hotel,
because it was still considered as dirty place because it was still used as the place for the
prostitutes. But in 1980s, the hotel had been reformed and rebuilt for other facilities such as
swimming pool, seminar hall, fitness center, exhibition center, wedding party center or even the
place for watching music concert as well as providing restaurant.
For that reason, the hotel now has been considered as the place with more functions and
not only as the place for prostitutes, although it is frequently inevitable
