Parentele, amicizie e carriere: La distribuzione del potere al centro dell'Impero ottomano (1550-1566)

Abstract

This work is based on the systematic reading and analysis of documents of political and diplomatic nature preserved in the State Archives of Venice. We started from the reports and dispatches of the Venetian representatives in Constantinople to observe in parallel the evolution of the powers through these competitors. My interest focused on the perception that the Venetian diplomats had of the behavior of the warring factions. The careful observation of the Ottoman power plots by the bailo and his entourage, was combined with a deeper political reflection, according to which the Venetians could understand what was the actual weight of the parties involved
