Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych współczesnych problemów społecznych rozwoju obszarów wiejskich w Polsce i ich zróżnicowania terytorialnego w odniesieniu do działań pomocy społecznej. Jest to pośrednia metoda identyfikacji procesów marginalizacji wsi, różnicowania się obszarów wiejskich w kierunku ich polaryzacji, a także potencjału kapitału ludzkiego na wsi. Analiza dynamiki, zakresu i zróżnicowania regionalnego pomocy społecznej na terenach wiejskich pozwala na ilościowe ujęcie problemów społecznych, mających najczęściej charakter jakościowy.The article discusses selected present-day social problems in the development of rural areas in Poland and how they differ among regions in terms of social security measures. It is an indirect method to identify the processes of marginalisation of rural areas, their tendency towards polarisation, and their human capital. An analysis of the dynamics and scope of welfare in rural areas as well as regional differences in those features allow a quantitative approach to social problems that are usually qualitative in nature
