Tese de mestrado, Língua e Cultura Portuguesa, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Letras, 2010Com o advento da imigração em Portugal, emergiu uma nova situação na panorâmica do ensino da língua portuguesa: o ensino da língua de acolhimento. Desde 2001, o programa Portugal Acolhe tem como função auxiliar a comunidade imigrante portuguesa no seu processo de integração ao providenciar cursos de português dirigidos exclusivamente a imigrantes adultos. Na situação actual em que Portugal se encontra, é imperativo que todos os esforços sejam efectuados no sentido de fazer da sociedade portuguesa um espaço onde impere a comunicação e a interacção entre os que chegam e os que acolhem.
Neste estudo pretende-se aprofundar o conhecimento de como se processa a aprendizagem da língua de acolhimento por este público-alvo tão específico. A análise de um corpus composto por inquéritos dirigidos a aprendentes e a ensinantes possibilita traçar algumas linhas gerais acerca do processo de ensino-aprendizagem realizado nos cursos oferecidos pelo programa Portugal Acolhe.Abstract: The recent boom of immigration in Portugal has given rise to a new development in the field of Portuguese language instruction: the teaching of the welcoming language. Since 2001, the program Portugal Acolhe has performed the function of helping the immigrant community in Portugal in the integration process by providing language courses directed exclusively to adults. In the current national climate it is imperative that a concentrated effort is directed towards making the Portuguese society a space where communication and interaction between those who arrive and those who welcome is prioritized.
This study intends to deepen the knowledge of how the learning of the welcome language is processed by the very specific target audience of immigrants into Portugal. An analysis of questionnaires directed to learners and teachers enables us to draw some general conclusions about the teaching-learning process which occurs in the courses offered by Portugal Acolhe
