O primeiro consiste em analisar as unidades de Estatística, de Probabilidades e Combinatória e de Modelos de Probabilidade nos programas de Matemática A e B do Ensino Secundário. O segundo objectivo pretende analisar a opinião dos alunos do 3.ºCiclo e do Ensino Secundário relativamente aos programas de Matemática, aos conteúdos de Estatística e de Probabilidades, bem como à forma como estes foram abordados nas aulas. Para desenvolver a primeira parte do trabalho foram utilizados diversos documentos, entre eles os programas de Matemática A e B do Ensino Secundário e as brochuras de Estatística e de Probabilidades e Combinatória que são sugeridas como guias de apoio ao professor na leccionação destas componentes. Em relação à segunda parte do trabalho, foram elaborados inquéritos como instrumento de recolha de dados. Esta parte do estudo contou com a participação de 1144 alunos do 3.ºCiclo e do Ensino Secundário de diversas escolas da região de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo. O estudo realizado permitiu concluir que é necessário efectuar uma revisão das temáticas de Estatística e de Probabilidades nos programas de Matemática A e B do Ensino Secundário, bem como uma revisão nas brochuras de Estatística e de Probabilidades e Combinatória. Da análise dos inquéritos concluiu-se que a maioria dos alunos do 3.ºCiclo e do Ensino Secundário reconhece que as temáticas de Estatística e de Probabilidades são interessantes, admite que os conteúdos destas temáticas nem são fáceis nem são difíceis e além disso, não considera que a forma como os professores abordaram estes conteúdos seja difícil. Os resultados obtidos neste estudo evidenciaram a necessidade de ocorrer mudanças de forma a criar condições para o ensino e aprendizagem das temáticas de Estatística e de Probabilidades de acordo com a importância que actualmente lhes é reconhecida.This work was centered around two objectives. The first consisted of analyzing the units of Statistics, Probabilities and Combinatorics and Probability Models in Mathematics programs A and B of Secondary Education. The second objective was to analyze the opinions of students of the 3rd Cycle and Secondary Education in relation to Mathematics programs, the contents of Statistics and Probabilities, as well as the way in which these themes were approached in the lessons. To develop the first part of the work several documents were used, including Mathematics programs A and B of Secondary Education and the brochures of Statistics and Probabilities and Combinatorics which are suggested as guides to support teachers in teaching these components. In relation to the second part of the work, inquiries were created as an instrument of data collection. In this part of the study participated 1144 students of the 3rd Cycle and Secondary Education of several schools of the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo. This study has led to the conclusion that it is necessary to effect a revision of the thematics of Statistics and Probabilities in Mathematics programs A and B of Secondary Education, as well as a revision of the brochures of Statistics and Probabilities and Combinatorics. The analysis of the inquiries led to the conclusion the majority of the students of 3rd Cycle and Secondary Education recognize the thematics of Statistics and Probabilities are interesting, and admit that, on the overall, the contents of these thematics are neither easy, nor difficult and does not consider the method used by teachers to approach this contents is difficult. The results obtained show the need to for change in order to create better conditions for teaching and learning the thematics of Statistics and Probabilities according to the important role they both play nowadays
