Obesity is one of metabolic syndrome which marked by over IMT. Obesity
can be early from many diseases such as hypertension, chronic heart failure,
and impotence. This research is to know about the relation between obesity
and knee osteoarthritis in oldster at Puncangsawit, Jebres, Surakarta.
This observational analytic research using cross sectional approach was done
in two health centre of oldster at Puncangsawit, Jebres, Surakarta. The
research sample was 60 samples who were divided into 3 groups : under
IMT, normo IMT, and over IMT. This research used questioner, interview,
and measured the IMT. The sampling technique was random sampling and
analized using chi square and odds ratio.
The result showed that almost oldster with over IMT (obesity) get knee
osteoarthritis. The X

signification level α 0,05 and degree of freedom (db) 2. And the result from
odds ratio showed that respondent with normo IMT (OR = 1,5) had 1,5 times
risk got knee osteoarthritis than respondent with under IMT. And respondent
with over IMT (OR = 4,9) had 4,9 times risk got knee osteoarthritis than
respondent with normo IMT. Statistic result showed that there was relation
between obesity and knee osteoarthritis in oldster at Puncangsawit, Jebres,
Surakarta.
