Media osana varhaiskasvatuksen arkea

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa, miten lapset käyttävät media-laitteita varhaiskasvatusympäristössä. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli syventää omaa tietoamme mediakasvatuksesta teoriatiedoilla sekä ammattilaisten näkemyksillä. Lisäksi tuotimme materiaalia opinnäytetyöprosessiimme osallistuvan ryhmän käyttöön. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä MollaGoesSteam–hankkeen kanssa. Toteutustapana oli toiminnallinen mediahetki, joka järjestettiin hankkeen pilottipäiväkodissa. Teoreettisena viitekehyksenä käytettiin kirjallista sekä internetistä löytyvää materiaalia mediakasvatukseen liittyen. Analysoinnin tueksi päädyttiin osallistuvaan havainnointiin sekä palautteen keräämiseen pilottipäiväkodin aikuisilta ja lapsilta. Toiminnallisen mediahetken aikana tuotettiin pilottiryhmän käyttöön hyvien käytöstapojen sääntöjulisteita, jotka liittyivät ryhmän käynnissä olevaan teemakuukauteen. Saadun palautteen ja havaintojen perusteella esitimme mahdollisia kehitysehdotuksia sekä hankkeen että päiväkodin toimintaan.The purpose of the study was to find out how children use media devices in early childhood education. The objective of this study was to deepen the authors’ knowledge about media education with the help of theory and professionals’ views. At the same time, useful material for the group which attended our study was produced. This study was carried out in cooperation with the project MollaGoesSteam. The data for this thesis was collected by having a media-oriented activity in one of the project’s pilot kindergartens. Media-themed literature was the theoretical ground for the study. Participatory observation and feedback were collected from the children and adults at the kindergarten to support the analysis. During media-oriented activity we managed to produce posters with photographs of good manners for the group. The idea behind these posters was the theme month about good manners. With the help of our observations and collected feedback, possible development proposals for the project and kindergarten were presented
