Middle Devonian (Givetian) Radiolaria from eastern New South Wales, Australia: A reassessment of the Hinde (1899) fauna

Abstract

Middle Devonian (Givetian) radiolarians originally described by HINDE (1899) from thin sections of tuffaceous cherts and volcaniclastic sandstones of the Gamilaroi terrane are reassessed. Seventeen taxa are regarded as nomen dubium. Other taxa are synonymised and taxonomy is updated and, where appropriate, emended. Priority of the senior synonyms Trilonche HINDE and Stigmosphaerostylus RÜST is recognised and junior synonyms such as Entactinia FOREMAN and Entactinosphaera FOREMAN are placed in synonymy
