Abstract
Heimat - it's an abstract term. Everybody seems to know about it, but when taking a closer look at it, the question arises: what is it really? Is it a place, a feeling, something that is coming from the inside? Heimat is more than that. It can not be identified, it can not be described, it has many faces and no face at all. The feeling of Heimat ties the human to its land, makes it suffer when leaving it. Of course it is always possible to find a new Heimat, but in the new place different codes exist which still need to be interpreted and learned to mingle with the sedimentary people and to understand them and their behaviour
