Palliatiivisessa hoidossa olevan potilaan tukeminen vapaaehtoistyön avulla : Projekti toimivan yhteistyön kehittämiseksi Kokkolan terveyskeskussairaalan ja Pohjanmaan Syöpäyhdistyksen välille

Abstract

Suomalainen saattohoito nykyisellään vaatii kehittämistä. Terveydenhuollon yhteistyö kolmannen sektorin ja vapaaehtoistyöntekijöiden kanssa nähdään merkittävänä kehittämiskohteena saattohoidossa. Projektin tarkoituksena oli kehittää toimivaa yhteistyötä Kokkolan terveyskeskussairaalan vuodeosaston, sen yhteydessä toimivan palliatiivisen poliklinikan ja Pohjanmaan Syöpäyhdistyksen vapaaehtoistyöntekijöiden välille saattohoidossa. Projektin tavoitteena oli parantaa palliatiivisen hoidon piirissä olevien potilaiden elämänlaatua ja tuoda terveyskeskussairaalan hoitotyön rinnalle uusi tapa tukea potilaita ja heidän läheisiään vakavan sairauden kohdatessa. Projektin avulla tuotettua tietoa ja kokemusta voidaan hyödyntää yhteistyön kehittämiseen edelleen. Projektin aikana tuli ilmi asioita, joihin paneutumalla yhteistyötä voitaisiin jatkossa parantaa. Erilaiset toiveet ja tarpeet toimijoiden välillä olivat yksi syy yhteistyön toimimattomuuteen. Toinen projektin aikana ilmi tullut seikka oli työntekijöiden ja vapaaehtoistyöntekijöiden tutustuttamisen merkitys. Sen arveltiin madaltavan kynnystä yhteydenottoon. Yhteistyötä koordinoiva henkilö olisi hyvä nimetä työyhteisön sisältä. Yhteistyön tulisi olla säännöllistä ja suunnitelmallista. Yhteistyön kehittämiseen on varattava tarvittavat resurssit, ja sille tulee asettaa konkreettiset tavoitteet, joiden toteutumista on myös hyvä seurata. Kerromme työssämme myös vapaaehtoisten kokemuksista tukihenkilönä toimimisesta. Vapaaehtoistyö koetaan antoisana ja tärkeänä. Vaikka se vaatii paljon voimia, se myös antaa paljon.The end-of-life-care in Finland in the present state requires development. The collaboration between the health care, the third sector and volunteer workers is seen as significant target of development in end-of-life-care. The purpose of the project was to develop functional collaboration in end-of-life-care between the Kokkola Health Centre Hospital Ward, the Palliative Outpatient Clinic operating in the same location and the volunteer workers of the Cancer Society of Pohjanmaa. The goal was to improve the quality of life of the patients in palliative care and to bring a new way to support the patients and their close ones in facing the severe illness in addition to the care given in the health center. The knowledge and experience produced by the project can be exploited in further development. The project revealed subjects to focus on to improve the collaboration in future. The differences in wishes and needs between operators was one reason for the dysfunction in collaboration. Another matter that came up during the project was the importance of introducing the care workers and the volunteer workers with each other. This was reckoned to lower the threshold to contact. It would be good to nominate the person coordinating the collaboration from within the work com-munity. Collaboration should be regular and planned. Necessary resources need to be reserved and concrete goals for the actions to be set. The fulfillment of the goals should also be followed.
