In modern wooden structures classic solid wood is increasingly being replaced by prefabricated timber products. They are fulfilling many of the functions that construction elements are now required to do. In Slovenia glued laminated wooden structure dominates in engineering structures however on the other hand around the world other types of engineered wood composite (Structural composite lumber - SCL) which replaced the classical line elements from solid wood, have also been introduced in construction. In the thesis most frequent representatives of modern wood products are represented. Their properties are analyzed along with their strengths and weaknesses. Possibilities for their use in construction as well as in other areas are described. In accordance with the standards from Eurocode 5 overview of the basic dimensioning of load-bearing elements of some of the described products is summarized.\ud
