The present work summarizes the guidelines required to design deep foundation by the\ud
standard Eurocode 7. The following is a review of examples of already built structures on\ud
piled rafts. The buildings are equipped with the diagrams of their actual behaviour and the\ud
diagrams of shared load between a raft and piles. The stated is a useful advice, on how to\ud
apply them when designing piled rafts. Furthermore, the method of designing is described,\ud
with which settlements, differential settlements and internal forces in the piles can be\ud
analytically defined. Within the mentioned method properties of foundation like: vertical,\ud
momentary, horizontal bearing of foundation, stiffness of a raft, piles and piled raft, have to\ud
be determined. Also the proportion of the load carried by the piles is calculated. In the\ud
diagram is shown the behaviour of a load-settlement. Described are the methods for an\ud
analytical determination of the base and skin resistance of the pile. The calculation of a\ud
settlement, differential settlement and internal forces in the pile for the actual example for a\ud
fuel reservoir follows. A parametric study is carried out in the final part of the present work.\ud
The program MPile is shown as helpful. Naturally, the influence of the diameter of pile, the\ud
reduction in the number of piles at constant surface of raft and constant load is checked. Also\ud
the impact of a larger distance between piles at constant number of them on the settlements\ud
and the axial forces within the piles is examined. It is looked into how the shape of the raft\ud
affects the behaviour of foundation. The most appropriate distribution of the piles with a\ud
suitable diameter for the purpose of storage is determined, for which the settlements are\ud
calculated
