Analysis of water and waterside land of the Mali Graben Stream

Abstract

The purpose of this graduation thesis is to produce an analysis of the water and waterside land of Mali Graben Stream. The first part contains the description of the Gradašica Stream watershed. The basic characteristics of the river system's topography, hydrography and hydrology, are briefly described. What follows is the detailed description of Mali Graben Stream, which flows on the south west part of Ljubljana and is an alternative name for the Gradašica Stream from the Bokal dam to the river's confluence with the Ljubljanica. The analysis of the water and waterside land is based on the data about the use and ownership of the single plots of land as cited in the land registry. For the purpose of the analysis it has also been set the boundary of the water and the waterside land of the running waters of Mali Graben Stream, as prescribed by the water legislation. To obtain the results it has been used the program AutoCAD Map, a geographical information system for AutoCAD, that allows the creation, support and analysis of spatial cartographic data in a digital environment. With the creation of the topology of the land registry and the topology of the water and waterside land, the program allows for the creation of cross sections of topologies, the results of which are parts of single plots of land with the type of use and ownership that goes with it. I then compared the resulting data with areal photographs and thus I got a comparison between the digital data and the actual situation. Next I checked the type of use and ownership for plots where there was a need to expand the banks of the Mali Graben Stream for the purpose of flood control in the south west part of Ljubljana. All results are shown in graphs, which have been evaluated and in the and there are the conclusions
