From a strategic point of view The Republic of Slovenia has a very good hydro geographical location, indicating that the water resources are of major significance. This work introduces the water management in Republic of Slovenia. Presented are various individual institutions and their cooperation in water management in the Republic of Slovenia. Review of the public services is conducted and their implementation methods and individual responsibilities are presented. This work explains the concept of water management and water resource analysis. Economic activity, comprised of water management is also demonstrated. The development of the hydrographic network in the Republic of Slovenia is illustrated; moreover the hydrographic networks Pomurje, Drava, Posavje, Pokolpje, Soča Valley and the Adriatic basin are studied. \ud
The overview institutions, their tasks, mutual cooperation in the implementation of water management of the Savinja river basin are introduced. Presented are operations within the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia, Department for the area of the river Savinja and operations of the Inspectorate of the Environment, Regional Unit Celje. It also describes the geographical characteristics of the river Savinja. With diagrams various activities of institutions are presented, which regulations define them, what their tasks are and how these institutions are engaged in the preparation of various programs related to water management of the Savinja river basin.\u
