Etos powstania styczniowego jako fundament koncepcji odrodzenia państwa i narodu w twórczości Stefana Żeromskiego

Abstract

This article analyses the thematic presence of the January Uprising in Stefan Żeromski’s prose and journalism, particularly his novel Uroda życia (1912) and two short stories. It is thus contended that the writer created a mythology of an eternally lasting uprising, demanding its realization in Poles’ varied activities in the years following 1863. Żeromski equally ensured the immortality of the uprising, which would result in the nation’s rebirth that had been made possible by the heroism of the fighters and their inheritors
