Pemikiran Fazlur Rahman Tentang Pendidikan Islam Neo-Modernis

Abstract

Fazlur Rahman is one of the Islamic thinker from Pakistan and master in many fields of sciences. He is a very dauntless thinker in voicing the ideas of his thoughts especially on Islamic education idea. Fazlur Rahman’s thoughts about Islamic education are very relevant in today condition. It takes precedence over to the main point in educational system, such as the aims, curriculum, medium, and educator concepts (teacher). From all the main points will be emerge Neo-Modernist Islamic education, Islamic education which bring out from traditional and modern. If Neo-Modernist Islamic education can be realized through all of Islamic education institutions, so the education problems such as sciences dichotomy and the low quality of learners will be eroded and overcome. This research aims to describe Fazlur Rahman’s thoughts about Neo-Modernist Islamic education accurately and objectively. The type of this research is literature research and using historical-philosophy approach (through a historical approach a template will appear from diversities, changes and correlations of this research. While, through a philosophical approach structure of Fazlur Rahman thought will emerge. The mean, by knowing the background of Rahman will arise his thinking about Neo-Modernist Islamic education). The result of this research, the researcher find out the meaning of Neo-modernist Islamic education of Fazlur Rahman, then discovery the relevance between Fazlur Rahman’S thoughts with Islamic higher education in Indonesia
