Based on the increase of use motor vehicles in Laweyan Sub-district Surakarta City gives a big impact on the emergence of pollution. To make measurements on air quality takes time and costs are very expensive. There is alternative measurements by using a life indicator called a bioindicator. Lichen is an organism that has been used as bioindicator of air quality. This study aims to determine of lichen as a bioindicator of air pollution in Laweyan Sub-district, Surakarta. The method used was explorative technique. The sample using purposive sampling technique. Sampling location in three stations were Adi Sucipto Street, Ahmad Yani Street, and Dr Radjiman Street. The results of the identification of lichen there were 9 species included to 6 family are Arthonia sp. (arthoniaceae family), Caloplaca sp. (caloplacaceae family), Dirinaria sp. and Physcia aipolia (physciaceae family), Graphis sp. (graphidaceae family), Lepraria caesioalba and Lepraria incana (lecanoraceae family), Parmelia sp. and Parmotrema hypotropum (parmeliaceae family). Observation on Adi Sucipto Street show that vehicle volume 5592 units / hour were 3 species of lichen, Ahmad Yani Street vehicle volume 3117 units / hour were 6 species of lichen, and observation point on Dr Radjiman Street with vehicle volume of 3050 units / hour were 8 species of lichen.
