Vision Panoramica De Los Programas Privados De Apoyo A La Microempresa En Costa Rica

Abstract

This paper describes private voluntary organizations (PVOs) that work with microenterprises in Costa Rica and their credit programs. PYO credit programs multiplied in the 1980s, after many small borrowers were excluded from access to bank credit during the crisis in 1981-82. There is much heterogeneity of microenterprise programs, a variety welcomed by the authors. The existing limitations on deposit mobilization are an unfortunate dimension of the Costa Rican legal framework
