Historical Institute in Washington. Recently, he edited

Germany in the Era of the Cold War, 1945-1990 which
appeared in German in 2001 and in English with
Cambridge University Press in 2004. Among his many
books is Power and Mission: Was Amerika antreibt
(2003), an analysis of the history and current state of
