Penggunaan Kontrasepsi Hormonal dan Kejadian Kanker Payudara di Rumah Sakit Dr. Sardjito

Abstract

Breast cancer is a disease in women with the highest of Malignancy. Cases in Yogyakarta has reached 6.17 per 100,000 population, the risk factors due to hormonal contraceptives. This study aims to identify why contraceptives hormonal can lead to breast cancer. A case control study was conducted since August to October 2016. The case group was breast cancer patients and the control group of patients who did not get sick is breast cancer. Sampling through consecutive sampling technique. Data were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression. A total of 125 cases and 125 controls involved. Factors that had a link with breast cancer is a type of pill adjusted OR = 1.66 (95% CI = 1.21 to 2.28; p = 0,001), duration of consumption adjusted OR = 2.25 (95% CI = 1.04 to 4.84; p = 0,037), the period of last hormonal contraception adjusted OR = 2.41 (95% CI = 1. 15 to 5.05; p = 0.020). This study shows that the use of hormonal contraceptives raise the risk of breast cancer. Women should play an active role in breast cancer prevention program through detection early and treatment from the beginning. Health services need to explain the potential risks of hormonal contraceptive
